    • GM is bringing Hummer back... as an EV Truck

Well this seemed exciting until the end of the headline. Hummer was never about efficiency or electric trucks. The vehicles were supposed to be all-terrain monsters that nothing would stop hence the military influence on the design.

Hummer went dead about a decade ago when GM could not find a buyer or make a business case. Considering how popular SUV's are today it is fair to say GM blew it.

So is GM bringing the brand back with some exciting off-roader to give the Raptor or Wrangler pause? Nope.

Instead GM is appealing to pop culture by advertising the revival during the Super Bowl with celebrities.

Maybe they will surprise us with something that fits the Hummer brand image but don't get your hopes up.

This is great! I'm sure it will have a range of about 200 miles which is just enough to get me to a trail head 100 miles away and leave me stranded in the middle of no where! An adventure vehicle that has no means of refueling in the middle of no where! Why didn't I think of that?

Forgot to mention: 1000 HP. 11500 lbs of torque. 3 seconds 0-60 mph. I'm sure it will have electrical outlets so you can forego carrying a generator. There will be no problem finding happy buyers of this vehicle.

Have they actually shared any specs on how they are doing this?

I'd love to see it. 1,000 hp and 11,500ft lbs tq implies something like 475rpm for peak HP.

They're quoting axle torque for shock and awe.

Yeah, probably only 1200lbs or so. But instantaneous and controlled EV characteristics.

Just like the Taycan, runs about 200 miles. But with quick charging you can pick up another 100 miles in about 15 minutes. But that sedan will still run mid 10's on street tires, on the street, and averages 70mpge.

Great. Where do I quick charge out in the middle of no where?

I would venture to guess 90% of newer Hummer owners dont go off roading 100 miles into the wilderness. But those that go to the beach camping, etc will love the amenities an EV can provide as a power source.

I just clicked on that CTVS link and realized how lame it is. It makes no mention of the power output of the new Hummer and posts a picture that isnt even close to what the new Hummer EV will look like. This video will give you a little more insight.
