    • Final battle? Porsche Taycan Turbo S vs. Tesla Model S Performance Cheetah launch control

It is getting a bit tough to keep up with all the new names, modes, and models Tesla is using with the venerable model S. Not too long ago 'Ludicrous Mode' was supposed to be the fastest but the Model S Performance was updated with a 'Cheetah' launch mode.

This is all done to keep the Model S on top or at least try to compared to the new performance EV kid on the block which is the Taycan Turbo S.

You can skip to the 12:29 mark in the video below to get to the action with the first of four races.

Race 1 has the Taycan get the better launch. It pulls up top decisively for the win.

Race 2 it is the Tesla with a nice jump and the Taycan can not run it down.

Race 3 is a rolling race at 20 mph. The Porsche appears to ge a jump and the Tesla pulls back only for the Taycan to again pull away at higher speeds.

Race 4 is another roll and it looks like both cars start well. The Tesla opens up a nice lead but the Taycan comes roaring back to take the win up top.

The Taycan Turbo S still seems to be the faster car but it sure is close and whomever starts first can win.

I don't care to watch a silent drag race, but doesn't the taycan have a 2-speed where as the Tesla is a single? That would easily explain the top end advantage.

Indeed it seems the 2-speed transmission gives that edge.

I really do appreciate the high quality videos and the inclusion of multiple runs from multiple angles, cheers to Dragtimes!

On the 4th run they get a perfect start and the Tesla pulls, it is not until 140+MPH that the Taycan Turbo S can catch it....see the digital speedometer uncovered in the screen capture below....

        Pretty insane
