Tesla clearly intends to take that crown back for themselves with the Tesla Model S Plaid:
- Quickest 0-60 mph and quarter-mile acceleration of any production car ever
- Acceleration from 0-60 mph: <2.0 s
- Quarter mile: <9.0 s
- Tri Motor All-Wheel Drive
Let's assume Tesla delivers and the Plaid hits the road in late 2021. They claim it will run 8-s but that seems unrealistic. Does this mean a 9-second second car? If so, beating a Tesla Model S Plaid with an internal combustion car is going to become extremely difficult. Hell, the Plaid may become the benchmark with the 720S taking a backseat at least from stoplight.
Things are becoming crazy performance wise across the entire automotive spectrum.
