    • Lucid Air fires shot directly at Tesla and the automotive performance world with [email protected] 1/4 mile pass

Maybe those 8-second factory stock claims from Tesla aren't optimistic afterall? Lucid motors is already on the 8-second doorstep. You may recall Lucid Motors getting everyone's attention with a 9.912 @ 144.40 pass earlier this month.

Well, jaws are dropping all over the automotive performance world after Lucid's tri-motor 1080 horsepower EV just ran an unbelievable 9.245 @ 157.26 pass:

Holy shit. That is enough to dust a McLaren 720S tuned or not with ease.

It is getting to the point where the internal combustion motor is going to struggle to compete without electric assist at least as far as street cars are concerned. This is already elite territory and even a Bugatti Chiron would need to concede.

Could go 8's out of the box would still be uninterested. Click here to enlarge

Call me old fashioned, I like the sound, and feel of an internal combustion engine.

You aren't the only one but my goodness that is fast plus anyone's grandmother can extract that performance.

That's great. Because one of the most fulfilling experiences to an EV driver is hearing the straining, wailing, engine of the car they are racing. I mean just look at the You Tube videos of the 700 HP Track Hawk being beat by the Model Y SUV in the quarter mile and a roll. So yes, much more fun to be racing a gas car than another EV. Only problem is all the noise the gas car makes may bring unwanted attention from law enforcement.

True but a performance car should make your opponent $#@! their pants on sound alone.

I might think you are certifiably insane for liking the new M3/M4 but I do agree with this.
EV's for sure are missing out on sound which adds a lot to the fun of driving.

ICE cars fit perfectly with a manual transmission. Yes both of them essentially a handicap at this point but they are so much more satisfying and engaging to drive.
If I owned an EV I would never just go driving in the mountains for fun, but I do it all the time now especially with the S2000 and 911.

An EV simply will never give the driver interaction and experience of a proper internal combustion car.

Make them go as fast as you want in a straight line, this will always be more fun to drive:

I did not find it confirmed anywhere that this pass was the tri-motor version, did you? The 1080 hp rating was for the dual motor version per the website.

The dual motor is "only" 1080HP, the tri motor HP will be substantially more, with the battery being the limiting factor.
