    • GMC reveals 2024 Hummer EV SUV but without the 1000 hp version of the EV truck

GMC is not playing around and fully intent on pushing the Hummer brand with electric EV's. Which is not a bad thing considering the awesome 1000 horsepower GMC Hummer EV truck they revealed to a tremendous response last year.

The SUV dare we say looks even better and more muscular. This is partially due to the 8.9 inch shorter wheelbase. Perhaps this shorter wheelbase explains that the SUV only goes up 830 horsepower.

That is a ton of power but the 1000 horsepower figure of the truck drops jaws. It is a shame you can not have that output in the lighter and smaller SUV.

Pricing is the same as truck for whatever reason:

      • EV2: $79,995
      • EV2X: $89,995
      • EV3X: $99,995
      • Edition 1: $105,595 ($110,595 with Extreme Off-Road Package)

You will have to wait until 2023 to get one which is quite a while in automotive terms. GMC apparently want the marketing buzz to linger but launching a 2024 model year vehicle this early is a stretch even for them.

0-60 takes 3.5 seconds and it has four wheel steering plus all the cool modes from the truck.

      Who else wants one?

I’m not a fan of the old Hummers, but I really like this.

        I put a deposit down (it's $100).

Sucks the wait is so long but I want this to drive around. Doubt I'll opt for the off-road package.

Also wish hit had the full 1000 hp but it should be lighter than the truck.

Meh. I’m getting a Rivian R1S. Looks better. Fantastic specs (0-60 in 3s, 400mile range, off road ability is excellent, interior is fantastic, they’re building an excellent network of chargers). And all in it’s $77k.

Sounds too good to be true.

Even so, I just love the looks of this thing plus the removable windows. I just flat out like it.

Don’t disagree - the Hummer looks great. Just more than I want to pay (and it’s ginormous). I had really wanted a Bronco (ideally Warthog), but it’s just taking too long. Won’t be able to get one until 2023 at the earliest. And for me, an EV actually makes a ton of sense (I mainly just drive to the airport where it can charge while I’m traveling, I live at 6500ft, so the idea of electric is awesome, and I need something to haul bikes around, etc). The more I dug in to the Rivian, if they can meet their claims, it will be perfect for me. Waiting for an early review - assuming it looks good, I’m getting a deposit down.

Rivian or Hummer, they both fill a similar niche.

For me the Hummer works better for hot California weather.

Plus, for off-road I plan to pick up a UTV which is more fun than a Bronco, Jeep, Hummer, whatever.

Yep. That is the one thing that stinks compared to the Bronco (or hummer) - no removable doors/top. But it has a huge sunroof. So that’s cool.

        We'll see what it brings.

All I know is the EV scene is really heating up and I better be a part of it.

Definitely interested, but has the same issue all EVs have...the places I'd want to go with it are not places I could charge it, certainly not quickly. My driving is a mix of short trips around the city, and very long distance trips. Would be great to throw some camping gear and a couple bikes into one of these and go....nowhere because you can't charge this thing in the middle of the wilderness. And I'm a couple hundred miles away from most places that are appealing for outdoor activities to be honest.

Rivian is trying to address that:

It is somewhat amusing it has this great off-road capability but you can't do anything with it beyond short little excursions.

So these will be used in the city mostly.

For me though, it offers enough range to get to the mountains and once there charging it and being able to drive around without any elevation impact which is cool.
