        When the Taycan Turbo S launched it took the crown from Tesla as far as the world's fastest production EV. It was close but Porsche did indeed have the advantage and Tesla did various updates (Cheetah mode) but Porsche held the ever so slight performance advantage.


        Well, along comes the Model S Plaid and Tesla is back on top with their claim to fame which is acceleration.

        It is not striking the Plaid is faster. It is striking just how much faster it is than the Taycan Turbo S.

        You need to see it on video to understand just how big of a difference these numbers are:




        Over 1 full second and 20 miles per hour of trap speed difference. Tesla did not just regain the advantage, they separated themselves by such a level who knows how long it will take Porsche to respond or if Porsche even will.

          I can't believe how much weight they managed to drop out of the plaid over the old model. 200 pounds or something?

          Yeah. It's still fat but I wonder what they did?

          I believe a big piece is a smaller battery pack. The range suffers, but the power holds up and it lowered weight.

          that back-half acceleration on the Tesla at 31-32mph is incredible and a highly modified big-turbo'd car's dream
