    • Rivian R1T is big, heavy, fast, and nimble - 0-60 3.5, [email protected] 1/4 mile, 7148 pound curb weight

Usually big, heavy, fast, and nimble do not all go in the same sentence. Yet, the Rivian R1T somehow defies its heft. And hefty it is at a whopping 7,148 pounds which suddenly makes the Ram TRX seem a bit less plump.

Keep in mind the 7148 pounds weight for the R1T is with the 135 kWh battery which is the mid-size pack. The largest battery pack will be even heavier.

Still, the truck defies the laws of physics with an astounding .87g on the skidpad:

Top speed is limited to 110 mph so it seems the fun ends right at the end of the 1/4 mile. Perhaps without a limiter it might be a little quicker and faster?

Oh, it stops well too. It takes 116 feet to slow down from 60 which is well above the class average of 135 feet.

Let's go back to the .87g achieved with all-season 21's. On better rubber the Rivian would absolutely grip even better. This is achieved without sway bars as the truck feature hydraulically controlled cross-link dampers. Trick stuff.

A very promising early test by Edmunds!

      • The all-electric 2022 Rivian R1T has four electric motors that deliver a combined 835 horsepower and 908 lb-ft of torque.
      • The R1T's large 135-kWh battery pack contributes to its staggering curb weight of 7,148 pounds, which is literally a ton more than a Ford F-150 SuperCab.
      • Despite its weight, the R1T out-accelerates, out-corners and out-brakes every truck we've tested, though its stunning 0-60 time doesn't quite match Rivian's estimate.
